What it does
The condenser sheds heat from the compressed refrigerant, turning it from hot gas back into liquid. It sits at the very front of the car, ahead of the radiator, exposed to everything the road throws at it.

Why is the condenser damaged so often?
It is the most exposed component in the cooling stack — stone chips, insects and road debris hit it directly, and its thin aluminium tubing punctures easily. It is a common leak source on cars used regularly on highways.
Does a dirty condenser affect cooling?
Significantly. Dust, insects and debris packed between the fins block airflow, so heat cannot escape and cooling drops badly at low speed. Cleaning it carefully often restores noticeable performance with no parts at all.
