Coming soon on Lagili — starting in Jordan and expanding across the Middle East.

What it does

The starter motor cranks the engine until it fires on its own, engaging the flywheel ring gear through a pinion that retracts once the engine starts. It draws more current than any other component on the car.

Signs it needs replacing

  • A single loud click when you turn the key
  • Rapid clicking with dashboard lights dimming
  • Grinding noise while cranking
  • Intermittent starting that improves when the engine is cold

FAQ

Is it the starter or the battery?

A weak battery dims the lights and gives rapid clicking. A failed starter usually gives one solid click with the lights staying bright — the battery has power, but the motor is not turning.

Why does it start fine cold but not when hot?

Heat soak. As the starter warms, resistance in worn windings rises and the solenoid contacts conduct less effectively. Starting well cold and poorly hot is a classic sign of a starter nearing the end of its life.
