FAQ
Is a faulty gauge the cluster or the sender?
One gauge misbehaving while the rest work normally usually points at that circuit sender — the fuel level sensor or temperature sender. Several gauges failing together, or a dead display, points at the cluster or its power and ground supply.
Can a used cluster be fitted from another car?
It generally needs coding. The cluster typically stores the odometer reading and forms part of the immobiliser chain, so a swapped unit needs programming to the vehicle — and mileage handling is legally regulated in most places.
